by: Fernwood Gold the 3rdBASHED: The Great American Bash from the original Gold home arena, the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale Long Island New York, was an OK show, but had some interesting developments. In a very subtle fashion, the first couple of matches were the post-draft ECW clean up. Getting the US belt off Hardy means he’s now able to focus on becoming ECW champ and Miz/Morrison can now be split into singles stars and make a much stronger impression in ECW than they ever could as tag champs. Smart booking. I hope the new U.S. Champion, Shelton Benjamin has left midcard4life status behind, though hopefully they will book his reign stronger than they are booking C.M. Punk’s World Title reign? Great promos, decent matches, yet these inconclusive finishes are wack. Someone has to the be the sacrificial lamb to put this guy over. Maybe they are building it to some kind of 3 or 4 way at Summerslam where he emerges victorious, but they need to put him in the ring with someone who can bring the best out of Punk. However, to Batista’s credit, he turned it up this week.
